First few days

I have decided to keep a blog after having my second heart attack within the space of a year. The first one was pretty much textbook. Pain in the chest, tingly arms, in fact ALL of the classic signs.
This one was a bit more subtle. No pain, just a brief dizzy spell then a collapse.I was even able to drive home completely unaware of what had just happened. I phoned the NHS helpline for a bit of advice and next thing I knew was that there was an ambulance on its way.

I was gobsmacked to say the least to find out I'd had a heart attack. After all, I'd done everything right I'd lost six stone in weight, changed my eating regime (I don't like diets) and become more active.

My heart attack was bound to happen, BUT... had I not increased my fitness the odds of my survival would have been much less.

It was discovered by raised Troponin levels in the blood so I was kept in for further tests.

  1. Hi Bob

That must have been a scary time for you and your family. I am impressed - losing 6 stone. I need to lose a stone or so, what's your secret?

I had a scare myself, almost 20 years ago, I now take medication for it, ventricular tachycardia. You are doing the right thing by walking regularly, it can only do you good.
